Great, pencil sharpener. Just make sure you push the pencil in firmly. If you don't it stops sharpening, before it's sharp.

Need this for my classroom and it has worked flawlessly. Sharpens every pencil fast and pointy. It stays up to my middle schoolers demands.

I've used a LOT of pencil shapeners over the years. As a first grade teacher, you learn quickly how exciting it is for kids to get to sharpen their own pencils. That leads to a lot of pencil sharpening, and going through a lot of pencil sharpeners. Here's my rundown on this beast:

Sharpening: You might think that the ability to sharpen a pencil is a given with a pencil sharpener. It isn't. I've had desktop models that couldn't sharpen to enough of a point for a pencil to be useable. This sharpener sharpesn well. It can draw out a fine point, and even for kids just learning to use them it isn't as sensitive to positioning as some I have had (where the fine point snaps right off if you don't hold it just right). I'd give it 5 stars solidly on the core ability to sharpen a pencil well. We're not talking old-school drafting level sharp (I can remember spinning pencils on sandpaper to get them just right), but a good and functional point.

Ease of Use: This sharpener is as easy to use as any desktop model of this type I've ever tried. Probably the only thing I could say negative about this aspect is it's lighter than some (but not all) that I've used, and that can be frustrating for younger users who don't yet have the coordination and dexterity to hold down the sharpener while holding the pencil steady to sharpen it. That said, at worst I would say this is average in terms of weight.

Durability: It's not the beefiest I've ever had, but it is far from the weakest. It has held up well and seems solidly built of good quality components from what I can tell. I suspect it will last a good long time.

Size: This is a really convenient size. It's big enough to not lose, but not so large it takes up too much room. It's hefty enough, without being overwhelming. I'd say it is a goldilocks size, not too big, not too small - just right.

Battery Life: The battery life seems ok. I'm not in a first grade classroom any longer, so I haven't had the chance to try it out in that enviornment, but have brought it with me on some days where I was substituting in the library, and it definitely made it all day on a charge with a lot of use. I love the fact it is rechargable.

Overall Opinion: This is a great little pencil shapener. It isn't anything super-special, but it is a solid performer in a product category that has a lot of poor performers in my experience. I think it is a great value at its current price (on sale for about $5 off its normal price), but even at full price is worth every penny. I am completely satified with it, and it is now my new go-to sharpener for my home office.

This is the 3rd AFMAT pencil sharpener I've owned, & I've liked each one. (I still have the other 2). The advantage which this one has is the 6 different sized holes to accommodate different shapes & circumferences. Before this, I was sharpening my larger pencils by hand & not doing a very good job of it. It's rechargeable & comes with its own charging cable. It's guaranteed to give you lots of sharpenings (the literature doesn't specify if the blades can be resharpened or changed). It's small enough to fit on the corner of my work table within easy reach & comes with a users' manual, which I recommend reading prior to use. AFMAT makes quality products, & I'm pleased with this one. It's a great gift for the artist in your life!

This 3 1/3 wide x 7 inch long heavy duty pencil sharpener is a great size for the classroom. It sharpens pencils quickly and effectively. The noise level is about average. The battery stays charged longer than expected. A common issue in the classroom is that students knock over the pencil sharpener, and it breaks. The pencil sharpener has strong suction cups that keep it in place. With this feature and its durability, it is well worth the money.

This is a great pencil sharpener! It’s not too loud, feels durable and heavy and sharpens your pencils well. Should last a long time!

This electric pencil sharpener is fantastic! I had some fancy sketching pencils laying around, and decided to test it out on those. It has six different holes for different pencil shapes/sizes; for these pencils, I used the smallest one, which is the closest to a standard-size pencil.

It took literally just seconds to get all my pencils sharpened, and not one of them ended up with a broken tip! I'm guessing this is partly thanks to the suction cups on the bottom of the sharpener, which kept it from shifting (I didn't need to use my other hand to hold the sharpener down). The capacity of the shavings compartment is massive, too - this would work great in a classroom.

This sharpener is very fast and works with a variety of pencil sizes. The auto stop feature prevents over sharpening and it is rechargeable, which is convenient.
It is sturdy and perfect for classroom or home use. Makes pencil sharpening effortless.

I know its not to normal anymore to have an actual pencil sharper but this makes me feel old school, in a good way. I miss those days when you could go up to the wall and sharpen your pencil and it was always the game of how short can i get the pencil lol

This pencil sharpener is great! It does a good job sharpening. It is fast, it has auto stop and has a rechargeable battery in it, so I can take the sharpener to the pencils instead of the pencils to the sharpener. It also has really good suction cups on the bottom to hold it in place. It is ideal for the classroom. Last but not least it comes in a variety of colors and it doesn't take up much room. It is also quiet.

This has become the best pencil sharpener that I own. I have several and this one is easily the best. It has six holes for various sizes. If the pencil is new with a flat or broken tip it will sharpen it in about four seconds and two second for resharpening. It’s cordless and rechargeable. It’s a good value and a use it often.

Wow, just wow - do we love this pencil sharpener! The kiddos at home have tons of pencils for school and boxes of colored pencils. We charged this thing up and it was an absolute tank and beast of a product. Super simple to use, you push until the resistance gives it up and out comes a perfectly sharpened pencil. The best part is that this sharpens consistently each time. There's a bunch of different sized pencil holes - so far we've used this with regular sized pencils, colored pencils, and even those bigger chunky wooden pencils for the younger kids learning to write. This has performed well with anything we've thrown at it - super impressed with this.

A lifesaver for a large family. My kids are always losing their own pencil sharpeners so this comes in handy for when they need to sharpen a pencil and cannot find their portable pencil sharpened in their backpack. This one is a lot more heavy duty and would do well in a classroom. It can sharpen various sizes/shapes, it even works on my daughter’s art supplies and colored pencils. It is rechargeable which is a huge plus, I love not having to keep it plugged in, I can store it away when not in use.

I have to versions of the AFMAT. Works great, my students use it daily for both regular and color pencils. Difference between my AFMAT sharpeners is that this one does grab the pencil out of the users hand. I appreciate that it is rechargeable and can be moved to where I need it, when I need it in other locations. It sharpens great, appreciate that difference sharpness options.

Rechargeable Multi-width Pencil sharpener- sharp blades. Well powered. Easy to slide out shavings drawer & even has suction cups for stability on table/ desk. This is likely something you’ll buy once & wont have to replace. Our previous sharpener was battery operated & didn’t have rotating width choices so if you didn’t put pencil in the right angle it would not work as well. THIS sharpener has rotating pencil width options/guides so pencil lines up accurately w blades. Very satisfied! Nice item!

I wanted to share my thoughts on this electric pencil sharpener. It features several size settings on an adjustable wheel, which is very convenient especially appreciate the suction cup feet that keep it securely in place while in use it speed is impressive. I inserted a completely broken pencil, and it was perfectly sharpened in just a second or two unlike some other sharpeners, the sharpener sharpens evenly all the way around, not just on one side.
